After it was reported in May 2010 that beer sales had fallen to their lowest May levels in Germany since 1993, brewers got a breathe of relief in the following months. Enthusiasm from the soccer world championship in South Africa and the unusually hot summer stimulated beer sales in Germany. According to the results of the Ifo Business Survey the beverage sector as a whole in Germany made an unusual jump in production and sales in July 2010.
