Notes on the climate: Beer - contains more than believed

At the Oktoberfest records of beer consumption are broken on a regular basis. Thus in 2009 around 66,000 hectolitres of beer were served. Beer consumption at the Oktoberfest is considerable, but represents only a fraction of worldwide consumption of about 1.8 billion hectolitres. The paper provides a brief survey of worldwide water consumption related to beer production.
