Retailing: Increasing Sales Prices

The business climate indicator for retailing rose for the second time in a row in May. The already good business situation continued to improve in light of positive sales developments. However, appraisals of the outlook remain negative. Despite reduced inventories, the survey participants will retain their restrictive order policies. The expansion in employment is expected to continue. In addition, a larger number of respondents expect prices to rise in the months ahead. In April, retail prices increased by 1.7% in the official statistics.
