The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which took effect for all EU member states at the end of May, has caused a great deal of discussion both among companies and consumers. In spring 2018 the Randstad ifo Personnel Managers Survey asked around 1,000 German personnel managers, heavily impacted by the new rules as they are responsible for implementing and complying with them, for their opinion. The results show that the negative aspects of the GDOR outweigh their positive impact for three quarters of survey participants. German small and medium-sized companies in particular see the new data protection rules as problematic.
