The positive development seen in manufacturing since the beginning of the year continued in July. Driven by more favourable assessments of the current business situation, the business climate indicator reached its highest level since reunification. The business climate improved in all segments of manufacturing. Despite their very favourable current situation, the manufacturers surveyed expect business to grow even further in the months ahead and particularly see growth potential in international markets. Companies are clearly satisfied with their order situation and capacity utilisation was also significantly higher than the level seen for the same period last year at 86.7%. Production plans were ramped up, with stock overhangs remaining low.
