Retailing: Weak Development in Turnover

The business climate indicator for retailing declined somewhat in November. In view of weaker turnover, retailers assessed their current business situation less positively than last month. Turnover was lower than for the same period last year. Thanks to a brighter business outlook, however, retailers plan to ramp up their ordering activities for the first time this year, despite almost unchanged stock overhangs. Moreover, the majority of survey participants expect to raise their sales prices. Their more confident business outlook was reflected in retailers' plans to recruit additional staff.
