Retailing: Excellent Current Business Situation Prevails

 Demand in retailing picked up in October and turnover increased sharply compared to last month. Survey participants were highly satisfied with their current business situation and expectations brightened significantly. The business climate indicator rose accordingly, returning to the record level seen in June this year. Since pressure due to high inventories decreased in some cases, ordering plans were less restrictive on balance. In the months ahead sales prices will follow an upwards trend. Retailers plan to ramp up recruiting.
