Einzelhandel: Zurückhaltende Geschäftsaussichten

After last month's marked increase, the Business Climate Indicator for retailing fell in July and thus dipped just below the level seen in May. The outstanding current business situation seen in July deteriorated since fewer retailers than last month reported rising turnover. At the same time, retailers expressed a slight scepticism about their business expectations for the first time in three months. Due to growing pressure from high inventories, retailers plan to place fewer orders. Survey results suggest that sales prices will continue to rise in the months ahead. More retailers plan to recruit new staff.
