Symposium and Farewell Ceremony for Professor Hans-Werner Sinn and to Mark the 25th Anniversary of the Founding of the Center for Economic Studies

On the 31st March 2016 and just before his 68th birthday, Prof. Hans-Werner Sinn retired as President of the Ifo Institute, from his Chair at the University of Munich, as head of the Center for Economic Studies (CES) and CESifo GmbH. Until his retirement Sinn served 17 years as head of the Ifo Institute and CESifo GmbH, 25 years as head of CES and almost 32 years as a professor at the economics faculty of the University of Munich. Hans-Werner Sinn’s retirement was celebrated on 22nd January 2016 with an international scientific symposium and a farewell ceremony held in the Great Hall of the University of Munich, as well as an evening gala event in Munich’s Residenz Palace. The speakers at the event included German Federal Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble, the Bavarian Minister-President Horst Seehofer, Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs and the Media, Energy and Technology Ilse Aigner, Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann and academics from Israel, the USA and across Europe.
