The release of official statistics on key economic figures is often delayed in Germany. The first figures on industrial production tend to be available around six weeks after the month in question has ended. These figures are also regularly revised. This is partly due to the fact that not all firms file their reports on time and the Federal Statistics Office has to make estimates. This article looks at revisions of German industrial production statistics. It shows the extent to which revisions develop on average. The article also looks at whether and how good Ifo indicators are at explaining revisions for industry.
