Retailing: a Good Start to the New Year

The business climate indicator for retailing rose in January and turned positive for the first time since July last year. The business situation was assessed far more positively, while business expectations were less sceptical. Companies posted higher turnover than in the same month of last year. More retailers are plan price increases than at the end of 2014. Restrictive ordering policy should be relaxed and the pace of staff downsizing looks set to slow.
