Retailing: Current Business Situation Deteriorates

The business climate indicator for retailing fell in October. The firms surveyed no longer assessed their current business situation quite as favourably as last month, although turnover was significantly higher than during the same period last year. Retailers also expressed less confidence in terms of their business expectations. They only expect to be able to implement moderate price increases in the near future. The number of employees is expected to increase marginally in the months ahead.
