Road User Charges in the European Union

The coalition agreement of the German Federal Government provides for the introduction of road user charges for vehicles in Germany. The form that these charges will take, and their implementation, is currently under discussion. The article offers an overview of countries that charge road user fees and a comparison of the different systems that they apply.
