Retailing: Business Perspectives Cloud Over

The business climate indicator for retailing continued to fall in December. This was due to a significant deterioration in business expectations, which were just below the long-term average. Retailers, by contrast, were more satisfied with their current business situation, despite less favourable developments in turnover. The ordering plans of survey participants remained largely restrictive. Personnel plans point to staff cutbacks.
