Retailing: Business Expectations Continue to Deteriorate

The business climate indicator for retailing continued to fall in September. Although assessments of the current business situation were more positive than last month, scepticism about future business developments continued to grow markedly. Since inventories were frequently cited as too high, retailers intend to stick to a restrictive ordering policy. In addition, staff cuts are also to be expected.
