Ifo Business Survey September 2014 in Brief: The German Economy Is No Longer Running Smoothly

The Ifo Business Climate Index for German trade and industry fell in September. Assessments of the current business situation were slightly less favourable than in the previous month. The six-month business outlook fell to its lowest level since December 2012. The German economy is no longer running smoothly. Firms are slightly less willing to recruit additional staff. The Ifo Employment Barometer fell to 106.0 index points, from 107.0 points in August. However, the slightly positive employment dynamic of recent months looks set to continue.
