Ifo Business Survey in May 2014: German Economy is Catching its Breath

The Ifo Business Climate Index for industry and trade in Germany declined in May. The current business situation was not quite as favourable as in April. The companies were also a little less optimistic about the further course of business. The German economy is catching its breath. Also, the Ifo Employment Barometer for German industry and trade, including the service sector, declined in May. However, the total number of employees will continue to rise, albeit more slowly.
