Economic Aspects of the Russia Conflict: Causes, Costs, Options

It is unlikely that a de-escalation of the situation in Eastern Ukraine can be achieved by sanctions against Russia. However, sanctions do function as an important political signal. In contrast to short-term crisis policy, however, it is important in the long-term to consider how Russia, which is losing economic importance, can be more closely integrated into the international community.
