A Criticism of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Economist Ranking 2013

In September 2013 the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) published a new economist ranking. In addition to research output, the ranking also takes two further aspects into account: media presence and policy advisory work. In this article the FAZ ranking is subject to a critical analysis, which shows that it has several weak points. In addition to the aggregation problem, it is also worth noting the incomplete recording of citations in the research ranking. On the basis of this criticism an alternative aggregation method is proposed.
