Addendum: German Car Industry’s Savings Drive: Can This Key Industry Maintain Its Position?

To supplement the articles in the ifo Schnelldienst 18/2014, Reinhard Hild, formerly of the Ifo Institute, assumes in his commentary that there has been no sign to date that globally operating German car manufacturers cannot maintain their position. On the contrary, he sees the savings drive as a warning sign for Germany as a car manufacturing location.
