The Environmental Industry in Germany

On behalf of the German Federal Environment Agency, the Ifo Institute is conducting a research project on the situation and development of the environmental industry in Germany. A major component of this project consists of a written survey of companies in the environmental industry that aims to assess trends in employment and turnover, as well as to gather qualitative information like, for example, assessments of the competitive situation. The survey results paint a picture of a young branch characterised primarily by service companies focused on a sector that faces important forward-looking tasks in relation to the energy turnaround and resource conservation.
