On 9 December 2010 the British House of Commons decided to raise the previous upper limit of tuition fess that universities in England and Wales may charge per annum. Since the introduction of the fees in 1998 they have increased nine-fold over their initial level. This article gives a detailed view of the concept of the British government on tuition fees and shows the corresponding regulations in other European countries.
