Ifo Business Survey for September 2011

The Ifo Business Climate Index for German industry and trade worsened again in September. The firms assessed their business situation as good slightly less frequently. Their expectations regarding business developments in the coming half year continued to worsen considerably. Starting from a good current business situation, the firms are bracing themselves for a noticeable slowdown. The Ifo Employment Barometer rose somewhat in September, after the previous month had clearly trended lower. Although it is now clearly below the values recorded at the beginning of the year, the personnel plans of the firms show that job creation continues in Germany.
