German export orientation, global imbalances -ten viewpoints of the electrical industry

The strong export orientation of the German electrical industry carries with it special challenges in the light of international current-account imbalances. Andreas Gontermann, ZVEI, Frankfurt am Main, argues that, in addition to strengthening domestic forces, it is important to develop more advanced technologies on the basis of innovations, with which the industry can further expand its current position in world markets.
