Climate notes: Permanent disposal – a postponed problem?

The phasing out of nuclear energy in Germany is set to be completed in 2022. The closing of nuclear power plants in Germany does not mean an end to the final disposal problem however, which is currently a topic of intense discussion in Germany. This article provides an overview of how the final disposal problem is being dealt with internationally. This should contribute to an assessment of the German situation.
