Save up in times of plenty so you can starve in times of shortage?A German alternative to the structural programme of the EU Commission

The European Union is implementing one of the greatest reforms of recent years that many regard as the only choice. Charles B. Blankart and Erik R. Fasten, Humboldt University of Berlin, disagree and propose a viable alternative to the structural programme of the European Commission that could safeguard the stability and competitiveness of all euro countries on a long-term basis. This contribution is meant as a continuation of the critique launched by Hans-Werner Sinn (ifo Schnelldienst 10/2010) of the euro rescue package with a view to the options available for Germany and Europe.
