With the combustion of fossil fuels, great amounts of CO2 are continuously emitted into the atmosphere. Each type of fossil fuel differs in terms of the specific content of bound carbon, and consequently there is a fixed relationship between the carbon content and the emitted CO2. This article provides an overview of how much carbon is stored in mineral oil, natural gas and coal deposits.
