The leasing industry is slowly recovering from the severe 2009 recession, as the most recent Ifo Investment Survey of German leasing companies, conducted jointly by the Ifo Institute and the Federal Association of German Leasing Companies (BDL) indicates. After a restrained beginning of the year, the investment climate in Germany continued to improve throughout 2010. The rapid recovery of the economy that began in the second quarter of the year also reached, with some delay, the leasing sector. On average for the year, a moderate growth in new equipment leasing business of 2.5% is expected - an expansion to 41.1 billion euros. Real-estate leasing will grow from a low level by almost 36%. For new leasing business as a whole, a growth of 4% is expected for 2010. The Ifo/BDL investment indicator points to clearly increasing expenditures for machinery and equipment also in 2011. The leasing companies should participate fully in this development.
