More than 28,000 jobs nationwide from trade fairs and conventions in Düsseldorf

According to calculations by the Ifo Institute, in an average event year, foreign and domestic visitors and exhibitors at Düsseldorf trade fairs as well as the participants in Düsseldorf events spend ca. 2 billion euros. Taking account of the additional demand for the intermediate products over various productions stages, the turnover effects amount to more than 2.7 billion euros. With tax revenue from the events of the Düsseldorf trade fair the state also profits. In a typical event year, the revenue of all municipal authorities sums up to 502 million euros, of which nearly 30 million euros is allocated to Düsseldorf. The production effects create employment nation-wide for more than 28,000 persons. Most of these jobs are in the City of Düsseldorf (ca. 16,100 persons) and in North-Rhine Westphalia (24,260 persons including Düsseldorf).
