Despite the expiration of the declining balance depreciation allowance for mobile equipment at the end of 2007, the results of the special question on investment polled annually by the Ifo Institute show that the investment dynamics in retailing will also continue in 2008. As observed already in previous surveys, the investment dynamics were primarily observed among large retailers. Of the surveyed companies, it was primarily those with an annual turnover of 25 million euros or more of which a majority expect growth in sales in 2008 and increases in staff levels as well as more spending for construction measures as well as store and office outfitting.
