Still no sustainable upswing

In western Germany retailing, dissatisfaction with the current business situation increased in January after the clear improvement in December. The upturn was especially marked in the field of non-durable consumer goods. Pessimism regarding the business expectations weakened further, but the order plans were increasingly restrictive despite the reduced inventory pressure.
