Postscript: What will the future Europe be like?

Supplemental to the discussion in ifo Schnelldienst 15/2005 on "What will the future Europe be like?", Dr. Alexander Schaub, European Commission, sums up the success of the European Single Market and sketches the future outlook: "There are many reasons to be optimistic. Europe has its strengths. Even before the enlargement, the European common market was the largest in the world. Today it has even more potential. It is supported by a homogeneous currency, which will facilitate integration, at least for the euro states."
