Dynamic growth in the leasing sector weakens – pace of investment upswing temporarily weakens

The business climate in the German leasing sector clearly worsened in the third quarter of 2005, failing to build on the positive development of the previous quarter. The surveyed firms assessed both their current situation and the six-month outlook more unfavourably. In the second quarter of 2005 the Ifo business climate indicator jumped seven points, reaching the highest level in nearly four years (32 percentage points). But in comparison with other economic sectors, the level now achieved can still be labelled “good”. Also in comparison with the results of a year ago, the index is still more favourable.
