Investments: Catching-up process in east Germany has stopped for the time being

The economic stagnation in Germany since the end of 2000 has led to a massive decline in investment activity. Investments in new plants have shrunk continuously since 2000. The drop at current prices was €16.4 billion in 2001, €27.7 billion in 2002, and €14.4 billion in 2003.
