Declining pessimism

The business situation in western German retailing improved but is still far from satisfactory. Although sales were higher than 12 months ago, the high inventory pressure still persists. The outlook for the coming half year brightened, with the exception of consumer goods; this was also evident in the order plans, which are no longer so restrictive.
