Slight improvement of business situation

In western Germany manufacturing the dissatisfaction with the business situation weakened somewhat. In the consumer goods producing sector, however, more firms gave negative assessments of the business situation. Enterprises assessed their business prospects for the coming half year with greater confidence, expecting positive impulses from exports. However, production plans tend to be contractive in light of shallow order reserves and increased inventory pressure, especially in consumer-oriented sectors.
