Clear improvement

The business conditions in manufacturing in western Germany was judged less negatively in August than in the previous month, and in the expectations the optimistic responses dominated more clearly. Positive impulses came particularly from the intermediate product areas, from which the first signs of a turnaround usually start, as well as from the capital goods field. The order reserves improved slightly, on average, and the excess inventories were reduced a little.
