Strong cooling of climate in civil engineering

Decisive for the slight cooling of the business climate in the western German construction was again the considerably more pessimistic appraisal of the business outlook in civil engineering; the unsatisfactory current business situation in building construction and civil engineering remained unchanged. On average, production increased somewhat. At 62% equipment utilisation was a little higher than in March. The depth of order backlogs (2.4 months) remained unchanged, but the comparable previous-year level (2.5 months) was again not reached. Correspondingly, 60% of the contractors evaluated the order position as unsatisfactory.
