Business climate worsens in civil engineering

In the western German construction industry the business conditions deteriorated once again; this affected both building construction and civil engineering. In the business outlook an increased pessimism was reported in civil engineering whereas pessimism weakened somewhat with respect to building construction. Equipment utilisation declined as construction output fell but at 58% was still above the corresponding previous-year value. Order reserves (2.2 months) remained unchanged, but more firms now regard them as inadequate.
