Construction (west):
Business climate remains chilly

The slight worsening of the current situation in west German construction is because of the even more unfavourable judgements in civil engineering. Here, on the other hand, unlike structural engineering, pessimism decreased somewhat. On average, construction output declined. Equipment utilisation decreased a little but at 58% was higher than at the same time the previous year. The range of order backlogs (2.1 months) fell somewhat and was assessed by two thirds of the enterprises (both in structural and in civil engineering) as insufficient.
