The booktrade hopes for an end to the sales lull

In 2002 the book trade was hit by the lull in economic activity and registered a slight decline in sales. This unsatisfactory business situation continued in the first half of 2003 with lower sales. From September on, demand livened, however, so that with good Christmas business the previous-year sales could almost be achieved.
