World economic climate noticeably weaker

The results of the 71st Economic Survey International (ESI) show a continuation of the declining trend in the world economic climate. Unlike the two previous surveys, the recent weakening is primarily attributable to a more unfavourable assessment of the current economic situation and less a result of pessimistic expectations. This constellation indicates that the cyclical decline will bottom out during the course of the second half of 2001.
