Weakened business confidence persists

There was little change in the unfavourable business climate in western German retailing, but in eastern Germany especially the current situation received fewer negative assessments. In contrast to western German retailers, their eastern German counterparts achieved further reduction of inventory pressure. But throughout Germany, retailers see no reason to loosen their restrictive order policies. The survey responses indicate that sales prices could increase, especially in eastern Germany.
