Increased doubts regarding export opportunities

In west German manufacturing the business climate worsened with the exception of consumer goods. The current business situation remained at the unfavourable level of the previous month, and the outlook was assessed even more pessimistically than during the 1992 recession phase. Export expectations also now match the 1992 levels. With dwindling order reserves and growing inventory pressure, production plans have again been revised downward.
