Increased scepticism regarding export prospects

In west German manufacturing the business climate continued to worsen (see Figure). In assessments of the business situation, the positive responses just barely hold the balance; the business outlook continues to be appraised pessimistically. Scepticism regarding export opportunities has grown, and even car producers expect their foreign business to deteriorate.
