The business climate in German trade and industry worsened again in September. The September 11 terror attacks and their consequences had a stronger effect than was initially apparent. The business climate in German trade and industry fell in September in west Germany by 9 percentage points to a level of minus 25.6 percentage points, the lowest level since November 1993. The last comparable one-month plunge occurred after the 1973 oil price shock.
