In 2000 consumer price inflation accelerated in Germany, but the actual rate varies depending on the price index used. Measured in terms of the price index for the cost of living of all private households, prices increased by 1.9% in 2000; in terms of the harmonised consumer price index (HCPI) for Germany by ca. 2%; and in terms of the consumer price deflator by only 1.4%.
