Construction (east):
Business expectations not quite so pessimistic

In contrast, in eastern Germany the business climate improved following positive trends in civil engineering and residential construction. With increased production, equipment utilisation increased to 65%. In both western (55%) and eastern (60%) Germany, firms complained of insufficient order reserves and regard further lay-offs as likely. Pressure on prices will continue especially in eastern Germany.
