The Single European Market in the Nineties

For the past several years the question of the single European market has played a major role in the ifo Institute's research program. The likely impact on the various branches of the economy as well as on economic policy in the member countries was the subject of numerous studies. The ifo Institute has earned respectable credentials in this area since several ifo economists were members of the preparatory groups for the official Cecchini survey and authored parts of the Cecchini report in which an ex-ante evaluation of the 1992 single European market was undertaken.
