Project

What Works - Meta-Analysis on the Welfare Costs or Welfare Gains of Different Policy Reforms in Germany

Client: internal
Project period: January 2021 - September 2021
Research Areas:
Project team: Stöckli, Marc / Bischl, Simeon

Tasks

The project compares welfare effects of political measures in Germany. Using a uniform calculation method, the effects in the areas of fiscal policy, education policy, labor market policy and family policy are compared. The aim is to identify particularly efficient measures or areas.

Methods

Hendren and Sprung-Keyser, in their paper "A Unified Analysis of Government Policies" (Quarterly Journal of Economics, 2020), propose the calculation of Marginal Values of Public Funds to compare policies. We adopt this method and apply it to the context in Germany.
